Join our Instructor Regina in the Layered Landscape Workshop at Splatter Art + Studio! All skill levels are welcome. Students will learn how to build layers of history on the canvas while developing an abstracted landscape using a mixture of mediums including collage.

Line, mark making, composition, paint application, surface collage and more elements of creating interesting and dynamic lush work will be discussed and instructed. Students will be creating a cohesive color palette and designing a composition. Students will be encouraged to lean into the intuitive way of creating. This class is based on ideas and observation in abstracting the landscape. Students will be encouraged to work intuitively and expressively.

This workshop will be held February 22nd from 9am–3:00pm. Must Bring a sack lunch & drink.

Cost per Participant | $95 total

For this Workshop, suggested list of materials to bring are bulleted below. The necessary items will be displayed in bold. Bring what you have, don’t worry about having everything.

  • Must Bring a sack lunch & drink!

  • Acrylic Paint Colors & White Gesso | suggested colors include titanium white, light yellow, orange, red, magenta, ultramarine blue, viridian, burnt sienna, paynes grey or black, cerealuan blue, raw umber, raw sienna, etc…

  • Assorted medium and large brushes & sponge brushes

  • Palette paper

  • Mark making tools

  • Oil pastels

  • Pencils

  • Charcoal

  • Posca pens (acrylic markers)

  • Water soluable crayons (aquarelle)

  • Spray bottle

  • Palette knife

  • Small sketchbook for color notes and composition drawings. (Amazon, Hobby Lobby or Michaels will have these)

  • Canvas: 16x20 or 18x24. Square format is good too.

  • Collage papers | suggested papers include scrapbook paper, old sheet music, wrapping paper, old envelopes, dress patterns, book pages, road atlas, dictionary pages, any printed paper (not too heavy) to build layers on the canvas, etc.

  • Gel Medium or modge podge to glue down paper

  • Water container and paper towels
