Watercolor Collage

A fun class using collage along with watercolor. A good use of older, unfinished or paintings that didn’t work out just right. We will be painting in traditional watercolor and adding fun textural elements to our paintings.

Design elements and composition will be our focus as we create an original one of a kind painting.

Bring any reference photos you may have, along with old watercolor paintings to create your own one of a kind Watercolor Collage.

I will have reference photos available as well as a few samples and watercolor pieces for you to use .

I will also provide the Matt medium for your use.

Supplies Included:

9 x 12 watercolor paper

Watercolor paints and brushes. Also bring one or two old brushes.

Scissors, watercolor scraps, old credit card or rubber roller

Paper towels, water containers, spray bottle, Palette to mix paint and drawing pencil.

Cost of class: $50 (this includes the gallery fee)

Season's Greetings Watercolor Greeting card class.

A fun watercolor class for the season.

We will be painting greeting cards and an ornament in watercolor. Just in time for the holidays!

I will have several designs to chose from and will supply the cards (3 each) and ornament for each student. I will also have some glitter paint and masking fluid available.

Please bring the following:

Watercolor paints (no specific colors) and brushes.

A palette, two water containers, paper towels and a drawing pencil.

Micron pen, Black. (or any fine waterproof marker)

Any embellishments you may want to use, and 140lb watercolor paper and or watercolor cards if you would like to make a few more.

All levels are welcome and just come and have fun!

Class fee: $50 (fee includes ( $5 studio fee)

Still-Life in Watercolor

As we continue to wade into watercolor painting, we will use what we have learned and create a beautiful floral still life.

“A still-life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural or human-made.”

We will paint together and individually as we explore this fun subject matter and the beauty of watercolor.

All levels are welcome.

Bring a light lunch!

Supplies: 140lb watercolor paper

paper towels, paint palette, 2 water containers, palette knife, kneaded eraser, drawing pencil, good watercolor brushes

Watercolor paints. I will share if you need some.

Foam board or something to adhere paper on. Artist or masking tape.

Bring what you have as I will share what you do not have.

Class fee: $55

Water Works - Beginning Watercolor and Beyond

A great place to start or refresh you watercolor skills.

We will discuss and learn various watercolor terms and techniques from washes, lifting, glazing and more.

A fun day of playing and learning this lovely and sometimes unexpected medium.

Supplies:

140 lb watercolor paper. several 8x 10 sheets or larger that can be cut.

A variety of watercolor brushes, I recommend a 1” flat brush, 8 and 12 “ round and one liner and other brushes you may have.

Water basin, large palette to mix color, #2 pencil, kneaded eraser, paper towels, and frisket or masking fluid (optional)

Masking tape and flat board or clip board.

I recommend tube watercolors, but use what you have.

Here are recommended paints by QOR (Michael’s carries them)

Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red

Cobalt Blue, Hookers Green

Lemon Yellow, Raw Sienna,

Hooker’s Green, Van Dyke Brown

Use what you have!

Celebrate Summer with Sunflowers, Watermelons and Acrylic Paints!

Sunflowers and Watermelon.

Step out of the heat and join me at the studio.

We will be creating a fun acrylic still-life. Learn the basics and fun additions to add to any acrylic painting.

Class Fee: $40 includes studio fee

Time. 12;30 - 4:00 PM

We will learn to paint loosely, using acrylic paints, brushes, mark making, masking tape and palette knife.

Addressing acrylic painting tips and tricks. to help along the way.

Painting a still life from nature. Exploring what works best for you.

Supplies:

9 x 12 or 12 x 12 canvas. (whatever you are comfortable with)

Water basin, good size palette for mixing paints, Paper towels.

Suggested brushes: 1 in flat brush, #6 filbert, a few round and flat brushes.

Palette Knife, charcoal for drawing or pencil.

Retarder or flow medium

Masking tape and scissors.

Acrylic Paint colors:

Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Umber

Permanent Maroon, Cadmium Red, Titanium White, Titan Buff

Sap Green Hue, Yellow Green, Cobalt Teal (Turquoise)

Paynes Grey, Ultramarine Blue and Quinocridone Gold

Don’t worry if you do not have all the colors! I am always happy to share.

We may even have some fresh watermelon to snack on!

ANIMALS AND PETS IN WATERCOLOR With Alicia Farris -2-day workshop

In this 2-day workshop we’ll paint our beloved, furry friends and favorite animals! Paint from provided photos or from your own as we practice painting our pets as expressively as they deserve to be painted! 

 Due to Covid-19, class size will be extremely limited. There will be two 2-day workshops available with only 8 students max. Each student will have his or her own table, we will wear masks, we will take multiple precautions and we won’t hug each other!

 

Times of workshop will be 9-3 daily. 

Cost: $140

Mixed Up Floral Watercolor Class - August 23 - 10:00-3:00

Fun and a little unconventional. In this class we will step out of the traditional watercolor routine and add mediums and techniques for a loose and interesting painting experience. Mark making, splashes, splatters, overlays and more.

I will set up a live floral still life for inspiration. You are welcome to bring a reference photo as well.

Class Fee: $45 , includes studio fee

Watercolors of choice

Mediums and all other supplies will be provided.

Bring a sack lunch. We’ll take a break during our drying time.
